Damn, you were doing so well with your first 2 paragraphs by actually pointing out correct flaws in his reasoning, which I always love to read.Then in the third mini-paragraph, you slowly start moving towards an ad-hominem attack by calling the original poster a "warmonger", while there is no intention that he was actually talking about war, in a seeming effort to add an extra point to your list of arguments in an unnecessary feeling that 2 good arguments do not suffice for driving a point home.Then, by the last paragraph, you completely destroy the positive credit you had built up by going to name-calling and displaying quite some arrogance yourself. It really is a shame, and I hope this comment might inspire you to keep your future posts more along the lines of the start of this one and less along the lines of the last.(ps. yes I am aware of the extreme arrogance of my own post, but I mean it well so it doesn't count, right? :-) )

They are escaping because the soviet union fell and the Cuban economy crashed from the crushing embargo that USA placed on it. Embaro and sanctions are almost as immoral as wars. They hurt the people not the leadership.

So the better choice is to let a profit driven company decide what is best for you at a rediculous premium? I'm not necessarily asking for socialized medicine. The ideal would be more restrictions on how insurance companies can screw over the patient, along with lower premiums. Why, in 8 years, have my premiums doubled while my coverage was almost cut in half? The insurance companies are f**king crooks and only care about their investors. We are nothing but numbers to them.

That's a good point McGrude. "Cripple" was a bad choice of words. "designed to Destroy" is a better description because the economy has been crippled by the embargo.

Of course exiles will hate Castro. Venezuelan opposition hate Chavez and the Democrats hate the Republicans. It's not exactly new that any power base has enemies. Castro never exactly ran a free and open regime. And for that it is good that he leaves. He did, however, run a regime that prioritized things that are often overlooked in many richer nations. Namely education and health care. Like I often say, Cubans, both the people and government, do everything with nothing, while we manage to do nothing with everything. Considering the conditions of the embargo, the Cuban regime has done exceptionally well and as the third world nations go, isn't in that bad a shape.

It's not just exiles. Those still in Cuba hate Castro too. The difference is that those who've left have the freedom of speech to talk about their experience under his repressive regime, whereas those still within the country would be blacklisted, incarcerated, abducted, or killed for even insinuating Castro as anything less than a revolutionary hero. Hence why I specified finding an "exile". Not to mention, it ain't exactly practical to hop, skip, jump down to the isle itself. And as for the rest of your post, I basically got: "The mediocre ends justify the oppressive and inhumane means." There's gotta be a better way to have education/health care. If that's the price it comes at, no thanks. Cuba was actually doing pretty good in education and health care pre-Castro. For all we know, he's just surfing off the momentum she had built up. In practice, supply in Cuba's failed economy is never enough to meet demand, and free items move to the black market where they attain a price. And like manstein01 said, you DO find yourself having to sell your shoes (because that's all you have left) to get medicine. or food. or *insert any item pertaining to economy*
