Anybody know if FC5 will:- contain the Mono development environment in addition to the Mono-based apps? - contain AFS rpms in the distro? If not, I'll probably jump ship instead of upgrade.
There are a lot of nay-sayer's on this forum, in regards to Fedora Core. But, other than email and websurfing (which almost everybody does with their computer), I only use my computer to play games. The sole reason I havent gone completely over to Linux is because Linux game support is spotty at best, and non-existant at worst. A lot of people here say "Red hat sucks", or "* is a better distro". Well, fact is is that Fedora Core is one of the most prominent Linux desktop distro's out there. If Linux is to catch on mainstream (I heard that 2004, 2005, and now 2006 is supposed to be "the year of the linux breakout"), it needs to stop spreading around it's market share on small distro's, and really put a lot of backing behind just few standouts. Just because you don't use it, or don't like it, doesn't mean it's a bad distro.
It's not a very useful comment if you provide nothing to back up your opinion. One reason I dislike apt (though I suppose it must be deb in the end) is that it doesn't seem to handle multiple CPU architectures on the one system. With Fedora for AMD64, I can install x86 packages as well as x86_64 with no problems. Ubuntu refused to let me install an x86 package, stating it was the incorrect CPU type.
I can tell you why. To quote the title of a recent story that was quickly buried, "Many [digg] users are not particularly good samples of human intellect." I would change "Many" to "Most" or "Just about all." At least their inability to remember or care about Red Hat's perfidy is their problem, not ours, assuming history repeats itself.

Actually, IMHO, it's a poor choice for server applications. It unstable, unsupported, slow, and bloated.

Any idea about a Mac Intel version of Fedora? Are they working on it?

Anyone know if FC5 has better driver support for wireless? FC4 was a pain getting wireless for an Intel Pro Wireless card.
