I kinda like the way the default wallpaper changes color during the day. Now if we only started to make more wallpaper series to use this xml trick we could make some awesome desktops.

This seems a bit hypocritical judging by your own lack of evidence. Assuming it includes Linux 2.6.23, the move to a tickless kernel should see some reduction in poewr consumption (although in the case of <a class="user" href="http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item">http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item</a> ... , admittadly not much), and for a list of some of the things that can be done to improve battery life check out <a class="user" href="http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/power-management-guid">http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/power-management-guid</a> ... . The reason I didn't source my post was because I considered it fairly self explanatory and logical. While most distros are fairly good about this sort of thing, it's no reason for them to stay level in the future and there may well be a difference in a newer distro due to a newer compiler, kernel release or set of power management apps.I am not gooing to sit here and source every obvious statement I make, but you'll be able to see the truth in most of it with a simple google.

Fedora is geared to be a platform for development/workstation/server usage. Ubuntu is geared more to be a desktop/personal PC.It's whatever you intend more to do with it. Fedora will usually be more cutting edge with updates and features. It's not as focused on being pretty and easy to use. Ubuntu will be focused for the average user more. It's really all up to your preference and what you intend to do.

Fans of good systems like to compare. I want to add my 2 cents...I run a triple boot Ubuntu 7.4, Win XP and currently Fedora 8 on my HP laptop. Ubuntu is still the winner for raw SPEED and overall ease of using. Fedora 8 is pretty, but sluggish compared to Ubuntu. I leave Ubuntu for my normal use and Win XP for games. The extra partition is used to try out new distros and to date, Ubuntu is still the winner. If anyone else is running multi-boot (3 or more - I sometimes run 4 on the same HD), please respond...

I can give you a reason not to switch... Ubuntu is based on Debian and, in my experience, Debian is the finest underlying distro ever to have existed. Sorry, but it is. Why do you think Ubuntu could go from a nobody to the leading Linux distro (or one of them, not to offend anyone with distro sensitivity)?
