sfgate.com— If the phrases "scruffy-looking nerf herder," "stay on target" and "I thought they smelled bad on the outside" have special meaning for you, there's a good chance that the film "Fanboys" will, too.

Am I the only one who watched the complete Star Wars saga recently and was disappointed? It seemed like a mediocre family movie to me. It must be 'cause of the generational difference but I've watched quite a few "classic" movies (released 30+ years ago) and they were really good...
Here I'll say it, I liked the new movies. And if you want to bury this even deeper, I thought the CG looked pretty damn cool. Everyone must watch the older films with beer goggles because as breathtaking as the effects were you could still see how fake some of it was - cell by cell cuts of the blue screen shots, the death star shots up close look just like what it was - model parts, shaking the millennium falcon for asteroid turbulence, and don't even tell me that Chewbacca looked real. So what if some of the new lines were a little cheesy, everyone seems to smooth over the fact that the original "classic" lines were once laughed at for being equally cheesy. "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope." "May the force be with you." Even the actors have admitted that at the time they thought a lot of it was a joke. Does anyone not consider that George 20 years younger when he made the first films and probably had a little bit of a different drive and motivation than he does now? Either way, my cousins are roughly in the 10-15 age group and to them, the new (and old) Star Wars films are the greatest thing to ever happen and they love the new films for the same reason that you loved the original films when you were that age. This is as deep as I want to get buried so I'll stop here and get off your lawn...
It is so fashionable to hate on the new trilogy. We know that you hate Jar Jar Binks. We understand that Midichlorians are a joke. But how about the dynamic of Master and Apprentice seen in Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan? How about seeing the temptation and seduction of the Dark Side? Witnessing the end of the Republic, more heroics of R2-D2, the Jedi Council in action? You can't tell me you didn't get chills down your spine when you first watched Anakin (newly turned Darth Vader) slaughtering the Younglings, and Yoda's reaction. If you don't like the new movies, fine. But people are afraid to express any sort of affection for these movies, knowing that they'll be brutally attacked by "Star Wars Fans" who probably actually enjoyed Episodes 1-3. So cut it out!

I liked the bit where whiny bitch Hayden gets his legs cut off. Highlight of the trilogy.
