Until the copyright mafias change their means of doing business, distribution through bittorrent will never be fully considered.

FTA = "The internal Facebook swarm turns every server into a peer that helps in distributing the new code,"
Ignorant person here so someone please help me to learn. I know datacenters have multiple connectoins to the internet so its reasonable that each server is using a different connection so they can send a ton of data to one server through all those "pipes". With that though do they really need bit torrent? Wouldn't this basically be multicasting? Is bittorrent similar to multicasting or better in some way i'm not understanding?
I guess i wish the article was just more in depth on how they do this and what it was like before they were doing this so i could better grasp.

Wonder if we can use bittorrent to replicate Steam content on the local network easily.

Torrents are the most efficient way to transfer data over the internet. Period.

God I wish Steam would take advantage of torrents for transferring; Whenever a big game comes out the servers bandwidth gets gobbled up rapidly
<AD> They are selling a bunch of 'mega-packs' on the site and as a result it seems like the transfer speeds are suffering here and there. </AD>

So FaceBook does know torrents can be used for legitimate reasons, yet they continue to block all links to torrent files in both private messages and public posts.....
