mashable.com — When you think of social networks you probably think of MySpace. But recently, Facebook has been gaining popularity - since it opened up beyond college users, it has enjoyed a flood of new users, boosted further by the launch of Facebook apps. It?s time these two social networks fought it out.

According to GoogleFight, MySpace pwns FaceBook 135m to 43.8m. Here's my take on why FaceBook rocks MySpace.1. Facebook doesn't allow design customization. Usually, that's a bad thing, but in this particular case, it's not. If you've used MySpace, you know that some designs are horrid, almost all of them are "made" by sites who profit from it and advertise on the page you created with their "application". You can't post HTML. You can post though, but each post will be in a blog-like list. Sometimes, less freedom is better... especially when you see what people do with it.2. Privacy. It's much easier to stay private on Facebook. It's also more important seeing as Facebook has real information about yourself. At least on Facebook you don't have to choose between "Everyone can see my profile" and "Only my friends can see my profile". You can choose what's displayed in the search results, what's displayed for non-friends and what's displayed for friends.3. Their code. Facebook has contributed to a lot of open-source projects. They released an API. Their pages *always* work as opposed to MySpace's too common errors. Plus, it's in PHP with some AJAX, and i love PHP and AJAX.4. It's so much easier to find people on Facebook. You go to the search, you type their real names (NOT their email addresses!) and bam. If they're there, you either poke them or add them as friend with a little justification and that's it. Do you know today's nickname of all your MySpace friends? I thought so.5. It's prettier. Granted, it's not "sold out" yet. There's no ads whenever a movie comes out. It's clean, practical and pretty.6. It's faster. You don't have to browse 20 pages to see what your friends have been up to. You go to your home, and depending on your customized settings and the ones of your contacts, you can see what they commented on, what they added or change in their profile.7. You can always find something to do. Join or create groups. Join or create events. There's always something new you can find.8. You don't get annoyed by random invites. There's no band looking for an advertising spot. Hell, even your "top 6" is not customizable and is randomized upon rendering. No bands, no assh**es who spam you, it's clean. If someone messages you, chances are he knows you in some way or another.

Yes, they should fight. Physically. Each site's staff needs to go head-to-head in a UFC-style competition. Losing site gets their datacenter firebombed. Winning site gets their datacenter firebombed as well, but quickly and painlessly.

myspace wins for having underground bands, no matter what genre of music you prefer.

Secrets ultimately will fall into the hands of counterfeiters and jig will be up for Microsoft, unless they plan on constantly updating production lines to mark the dvds with a production run date and unique label characteristics for each disc and even then its a toss-up if they can prevent 100% of the bootleg copies that pass off as originals<a class="user" href="http://www.clarksshoess.com">http://www.clarksshoess.com</a>
