Probably because Flash is a steaming pile of s**t in the first place and Adobe can only be bothered to write a barely functional Linux version to pay lip service to it's claim of being "cross-platform". Adobe and web developers who support it by using Flash are single handedly holding back desktop Linux.

@ mwalker05: If you wanna go against optimized linux then lets compare my arch box that boots up in 15 seconds and uses ~80mb of ram on startup.Hack away at Vista. Tell me when you get there.
