For all those who are espousing the "free market" and "no government" comments on here (both of which are just one viewpoint of many in terms of markets - your view of free market does not match mine) how countries like Japan, Sweden, and even France (who are all HEAVILY nationalized) have 20x better internet then we do? France f*cking provides 1EURO broadband for its poorest citizens for christ sakes! The internet is a learning and educational tool as much as any scholastic medium is - that is why most sane countries include it in a services package. I know that this violates your mythic libertarian ethos but guess what - the libertarian ethos is a philosophy and has NEVER worked in practice. You may say "the market" but thanks to corporate greed the "free market" will never be as Free as Ayn Rand wanted in her dreams. Rather then intellectually masturbate each other about how Ron Paul will take us back to the gold standard lets actually do something to save a sytem (the internet) that works well and we all need.http://savettheinternet.com

Yeah, until they push for this sort of thing elsewhere in the world. Not sure how this affects US companies based in other countries, though.
