I say this sucks. As a US Soccer fan, Adu will be in his prime if he lives up to the hype, and the other good potential players now will be peaking. I hope the US gets the bid as it'll be our first real run for the cup. LOL! psssh... America *uck Yea!
In case anyone doesn't know, there are 6 clearly defined continental confederations. When 'continents' are spoken about in FIFA or regarding football, this is what they mean:<a class="user" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:World_Map_FIFA2.png">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:World_Map_FIFA2 ...</a>Note some anomalies, Israel and Kazakhstan in Europe; Australia in Asia; Guyana and Suriname in Nth America. There are various logical and political reasons for these but so far as FIFA continental rotation goes, that is how they are grouped.
Yes, two of them on continents it has never visited (not counting Australia as part of Asia for this!) and the third on a continent it hasn't been to since 1978.
