appleinsider.com — While it surveys exclusive contracts like the relationship between AT&T and Apple, the Federal Communications Commission will also look into concerns that customers in rural areas can't access limited products like the iPhone.

While I'm of the opinion of "Apple sucks" and "don't care about AT&T", I really fail to see why the FCC needs to waste my tax dollars with this s**t. The Founding Fathers did not say "and it is the right of every free man to have health insurance and an iPhone". If Apple and AT&T only wanted to sell iPhones in Salt Lake City, UT and no where else in the world, that is their right as private business. If Apple only want to allow apps that make fart noises and not VIOP, they should be allowed to. If Apple wants to sell overpriced computers that are no better than other makes that are half the price.... they already do.I would rather the FCC (or maybe this would be for the FTC) to look into the problems with DMR music. You pay for a song, 3 years later the server goes off line and your song no longer works. If I pay for a song, it should last at the very least, my lifetime.

We can only hope that the Anti-Trust weenies at the Justice Department will follow. Then, the smell of blood and lots of excess cash, will bring out the EU regulators. I guess it's Apple's turn in the inquisition dance. Sit back and enjoy the show.

Right here FCC! Zip code 87401. Can't buy AT&T service here at all. If you want an iPhone you have to buy unlocked on eBay and get a T-Mobile SIM card, which probably violates some agreement or law or something.

To some extent - though isn't the iPhone GSM only? It won't work on Verizon regardless, they're CDMA. The iPhone should be available on any GSM network IMO.

Other devices are available on Verizon as well as AT&T, such as Blackberry. The type of wireless system is irrelevant, IMHO.

I don't have an iPhone, nor am I within 1,000 miles of Arkansas.
