charlotte.com — According to reports from the U.S. Department of Energy, 20 percent of the nation's power could be produced by wind by 2030. In 2006, wind power accounted for 3 percent of the nation's power consumption. Renewable energy experts say wind power will play a vital part in meeting future energy demand.

My grandmother gave me, my brother & my sister a small piece of land in the middle of nowhere in Texas. About two years ago an energy company asked to place a giant wind turbine on it for the next 20 years. We get about 5% of the production. So... If prices go up over the next 20 years, we get more money. The value of the land also went up by 40K because they built roads, plumbing, and electrical infrastructure. My taxes went up but the increase was paid by the energy company as part of the agreement. Basically... It's FREE money that just landed in my lap. The checks come in like clockwork and what else can I say except for I LOVE it!

Teddy...er...ah...keeps getting in the way!But serriously, He has pushed for renewables...It's the Dems who are in bed with the corn farmers and keep pushing for more corn ethanol.IMO, High gas prices have done more for renewables than any politician!

"Nuclear waste contaminates water resources when buried deep inside the earth."False:Actually false, the amount of high grade nuclear waste, is very small, mixed in solid cement tablets, and disposed of safely. And it also doesnt even take up that much space as you might think.False:"It's considerably cheaper and easier to decommission a windmill than a nuke station "Decommissioning older nuclear stations does cost money because they did not have the standards we do now. Plus the 1 nuclear station produced many many many times over the energy produced by windmills. if you compare the energy output and cost with the decommissioning - the old nuke plant still comes out miles ahead!Japan-There are currently 53 operating nuclear power plants in Japan.Germany-Germany obtains one third of its electricity from nuclear energy, using 17 reactors. They wanted to shut them down and turn to coal plants, but a new movement and votes are overturning that!!France- France will have 56 working nuclear plants, generating 76% of her electricity.USA - We have about 33 and a much much larger population.

I think that all of us that live in an area where the wind is high, should just build our own windmills small enough, yet powerful enough to power our own homes and back that up with our own solar panels. Let's all just live off the grid....lol
