physorg.com — Anna Patterson's last Internet search engine was so impressive that industry leader Google Inc. bought the technology in 2004 to upgrade its own system. She believes her latest invention is even more valuable - only this time it's not for sale.

Why do people insist on non-words for Internet brand names? I don't even know how to pronounce Cuil. is it like Kyle or Coo-il or cull? It seems to me that the first failure of this startup is to market a brandname that people can easily identify with and incorporate into their everyday speech. Somehow I just can't see myself saying "Just Cuil that word to find out more about it".

Heh :) Too late. There are already tons of custom search services out there which are 'beyond' Yahoo or Google and give much more clean search results than 'old monsters'. The main idea is that they deeply specialize in specific ares like real estate, automotive, gene data, etc, etc.For example check out one of them: web 2.0 search service for digital content and 3D models for game developers and general graphic designers:http://www.3dsn.comSample search:Samsung:http://3dsn.com/#keywords=Samsung&category=13Nokia:http://3dsn.com/#keywords=Nokia&category=13Do Yahoo and Google provide better search results? I doubt.
