Agreed. What Schmidt describes--a cloud of information that's used by small portable apps and is communicated virally--is exactly what the Facebook Application platform is. There is central core of information which is essentially all the users, their profiles, and their connections to each other. Applications draw upon that information to accomplish almost any task one can imagine, from playing poker to collaborating on documents. Facebook apps are even spread virally. I'm constantly being hounded by invitations from friends to pick up new apps. Apps are also spreading through blogs and sites like digg.
seems to me that all he did was define 2.5 - mashups???? they're here now! I feel that the leap to 3.0 will be more grand and have a much larger reach. It will permeate our daily lives in a much deeper fashion than blogs, social networks and apps have currently done.

I'm going to copyright Web 3.0 so no one can use it. You're going to have to go directly to your 4.0 dev Internet
