phoronix.com — Acting on rumors (which appear to have basis in reality) of deleted discussion threads, Michael Larabel of Phoronix posted an inquiry into possibly getting a small update on the state of the Linux version. The forum admin linked to their FAQ which indicates that the Linux version was coming and then closed the thread.

I've been a fan of the UT series and Epic for quite some time, so I try to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I certainly feel like I've been strung along here. If you can't release a client, don't tell us in advance that you will. If it wasn't for video games, I wouldn't have a Windows partition at all, and I was really excited to see a notable company pushing a Linux release. Epic's response has been really disappointing. I'll not be purchasing a copy of the game until I see the Linux client available and functioning.

If Epic doesn't release the Linux client they said they would I'm done with them and I've been a loyal customer since the original Unreal. I might still play their games but they won't see another penny from me. Digg?
