The point of the article is not to show people that owning/driving Hummers is the worst wrong, but rather, destroying something and creating more waste in the process is ultimately less green than the act of buying/driving the car. Carbons can always be offset by planting more trees (assuming we have land to plant them on), but we only have so much land and creating more waste to cover that land is, in the long run, so much worse.
submitter missed the point of the article... which is to tell people to not do stupid acts of violence that ultimately make environmentalism look bad. Well written article for that though.
