I think most people buying the game are doing it to experience the excellent single player mode ;)
"Anyone else think they ripped some of the HL source code when it was leaked?"Not likely, given it looks much better, graphically, than HL2 did.
If you've played their past games, like NOLF, you can tell it is an upgrade of that engine. Primarily, they added shader effects, physics support (the same Havok engine HL2, Doom 3, and Unreal use) and a new animation system, along with an improved AI.

I remember when i played this game at my friends house. Our systems match up pretty close (He's an uber gamer, and I'm a gamer who finally got cash for a system), F.E.A.R is a really awesome game, I couldn't stop laughing though because Nvidia kept giving me a pop-up because the GPU was overheating from the gameplay :PI went out and bought it, installed it on my system, and then found out I need a newer video card :(

Why do you think that?

I guess they see that ET is still very very popular with the crowd because of the fact is free. When you think about it, this is a real good way to build up a fanbase for future games. Give them something free and profit big later :D

I'm guessing they are doing it to promote the game and also according to Gamespot's review (<a class="user" href="http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/fear/review.html)">http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/fear/review.html)</a> the multiplayer is the better than the single player. I own the game but didn't play too much of the multiplayer cuz I was playing on my laptop but now that I put it on my desktop I will probably give it a shot.

I thought it was really fun, though I've since uninstalled FEAR. Maybe I'll snag this though.I'm really surprised they would just throw it out there like that.

well apparently you get dugg down for asking a simple question and the answer is in a new comment not a reply. i thought someone would be able to be nice and say "yes" or "no" but instead i get dugg down so go ahead and digg down my rant. sorry that i cant see the imaginary word "standalone" on the page that it is linked to.

Awesome game. Cant stop playing CTF :PI believe sierra is trying to show off the new multiplayer aspect, and alot of people may buy the game just cause they enjoy multiplayer and wanna play the single player campaign....Plus with the new expansion coming out F.E.A.R is at forefront of every1s minds now. Free advertising in a sense.

This is crazy only like a week or two since its been out and it keeps getting crazier and crazier, I've just downloaded 3 mods for original f.e.a.r. but its made for online play and it luckily works on this game f.e.a.r. combat. Its just doom and duke nukem put into the f.e.a.r. world. Also, a little gun mod that adds g36c to the game (my fav weapon). This game is the s**t, I can't wait to get enough money, possibly I'll buy it when the expansion pack comes out, so the game's price itself will drop.
