engadget.com— Hey guys, we know you like to have your fun, voice your opinions, and argue over your favorite gear, but over the past few days the tone in comments has really gotten out of hand.

Nope, without the comments, it's just a gadget blog, which is exactly what I like about it. If you want comments and a social aspect, join a forum somewhere.I don't care about the trolls, the flaming, and the fanboyism, so I'm glad they got rid of it. I'm not sure how that confuses you.Sure, sometimes there would be additional info in the comments, but that's when the users aren't trolling and flaming. I'm not saying I don't want comments to ever come back, I'm just saying I agree with the decision to suspend them for a while. Hopefully when the comments do come back, they will return to the state of being intelligent and informative, which they have not been recently.
Engadget deletes comments they don't like all the time. Ever since Topolsky took over Engadget has turned into a whiny self-important site characterized by an uninformed sarcastic writing style and sloppy research. Just go on there and criticize even their spelling and they get bent out of shape and defensive. To be fair, it's usually Topolsky that gets butt hurt about most of this stuff, the rest of the writers seem much less defensive.
I set my Digg to display all buried comments so I don't have to manually expand them. I like reading what everyone has to say, I'll judge for myself who is idiotic and who is not, thank you very much.

"Engadget has reacted to the negative criticisms on its blog very badly and unprofessionally. Firstly, it insulted its readers and fans by posting this article."Engadget has been doing that a lot lately. Check out this story from a few months ago.<a class="user" href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/10/hey-google-failing-to-spellcheck-android-2-0-can-have-undesir/#comments" rel="nofollow">http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/10/hey-google-fail ...</a>After many people in the comments pointed out that engadget criticizing someone else for typos was a lot like the pot calling the kettle black, Topolsky got all kinds of upset and posted some comments which were 'lowest ranked'<a class="user" href="http://a5.vox.com/6a00cd972a7baa4cd50123ddd114ad860c-pi" rel="nofollow">http://a5.vox.com/6a00cd972a7baa4cd50123ddd114ad86 ...</a>Almost immediately after that article, engadget writers were no longer subject to the comments' karma system. Engadget under Topolsky is an unprofessional and arrogant organization.

Just give them the opportunity to move to 4chan. Although that would likely destroy an entire generation of kids.
