engadget.com — And not a minute too soon! After all that "excited" gameplay we've been doing over the holiday weekend, we were starting to think we might assassinate our damn HDTV with a tennis smash in Wii Sports. We ordered our straps on the 15th, the day the replacement program was announced -- meaning they came a good 6 days later than expected.

There would be far fewer problems if they just didn't have a strap on these to begin with. I think it gives people a false sense of security that they can just let the thing go and blame Nintendo when they break something, which is retarded. If the Wiimotes didn't even have a strap and someone threw it, there's no way Nintendo could be blamed. Personally, I took the strap off. I know i won't let go of the thing if there's no strap to save it.All of these people blaming Nintendo for their own idiocy is completely ridiculous.

I've ordered a new set for my Wii, as I got one of the initial allocation in the UK i assumed that I had the ones with the smaller straps - I checked it against the pi on Nintendo's UK site and it looked like the smaller strap. It wasn't until I got my second wii-mote off my bro at Xmas that had an even slimmer strap on I realized that it might not necessarily be the ones that shipped with consoles causing the issue!I've yet to have any serious incidents, and this is even with my kids using it! Only accidents have been when one of the little ones has walked in front of the person bowling or batting! Nothing serious but they'll learn :-)

This story is lame. Yea, we all know about the wrist strap issue and how it's being handled but but why the f**k are you guys excited because Engadget got some ?

ScottDaMan, I can definitely see that happening-you do move towards the screen to bowl, and I'm sure some people misjudge how close they are to the screen when they swing their arms forward.

yeah, it's funny how people come running with pitchforks when a small percentage of straps fail, yet I wouldn't be surprised to find out that a few of these people's PS3's "failed" to work out of the box.

I think these guys should give up on gaming and go into photography, that picture of the strap in the Wiimote is breathtaking.

Honestly man, it's okay to have the strap. I used to be like you, a young man with a Wiimote that could never leave my firm gamer grip, but alas, I have let it slip twice since Nov.19, I've been saved by my strap
