engadget.com — Vista and Leopard are both extremely advanced, feature rich consumer operating systems. But way back in January when Vista launched knew we had little choice but pit the two in a head to head chartngraph Thunderdome competition. We know we're not even going to be able to stop the epic fanboy arguments about break out over this one...

No, you cannot count like this or you would have to consider all the 3rd party apps which are for free as well (whatever OS). If they claim to make a comparison of OS only, it should be OS only. iLife isn't part of Leopard.

Who uses either? VLC anyone?

I used Launchy, and then decided that this whole " quick search my apps by typing in the first few letters " thing is all absolute crap. And then ( by painting QuickSilver with the same feather ), decided that QuickSilver must be crap. And then I switched and bought a MacBook Pro. A few months later I decided to download & try QuickSilver, and BOOM - realised that QuickSilver is awsome, and Launchy is just a lame crappy copy.Moral of the story : actually try something before you say " it's just as good ". Launchy is nothing near as good as QuickSilver.

I don't think you can say that hardware support is better in Linux than on Mac or PC...If the hardware is automatically recognized by Linux, you are set...this functionality is probably better, but if the hardware is specialized enough to not be recognized in the Linux package, you are definitely up a creek without a paddle...unless you can find somewhere that a driver has been written for it(good luck). Normally drivers are given for Windows and sometimes Apple, but rarely are drivers offered for Linux and supported to any extent unless they are included in the package.Oh and is this "World" of third party hardware you speak of in the apple store...because I'm pretty sure that Windows has you beat there. Most anything you buy like this will run on a PC whether it be buying the same hardware for a PC, or just getting the appropriate driver.

I Agree,I use an external drive to dump an image of my hard disk and thus back it up to this. I also back up anything of importance to this disk or to a thumb drive in between backups. As I see it, a third party app is the way to go for backing up a system.

I'm posting this because it made more sense than that post....I told Bill that if he moves my desk one more time, then, then I'm quitting. I'm going to quit and I told Dom too because they've moved my desk four times I used to be by the window where I could see the squirrels and they were merry. But then they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline. They have my staples for the Boston and I kept the staples from the Swingline stapler.

Windows has very reasonable plug and play...It would be better than apple if they have the same monopoly on the systems and hardware that the is to be with their OS. Frankly, it is hard to mess it up when you make all the hardware that is to be run on your system(well ok...90% of it).

Nobody should get points for media handling, VLC is miles ahead. (And even then, Winamp is 2nd best)

Saying "3rd party stuffs doesnt count" is stupid, let me put it into an analagy.Timmy is great at playing Smash Bros on his Wii Remote but,Bob beats him using a keyboard on an emulator all the time.Timmy goes "Zomg you sposed to use mote d00d" And so he starts to win when Bob using a Wii Remote.Like changing the rules in the middle of a god dam fight!!---------------------------------------Basically, alot of things Ive seenon the list, get trumped by 3rd party software, eg.Mozilla FirefoxVLC Media PlayerNotepad++FrapsFeatures arent everything, what good is iChat if theres nobody to actually CHAT to? The main reason for IM is to talk not to screw around with the widdy biddy bits.My vista was bluetooth ready out-of-box.Why does windowd LOSE points for having a registry? And only 2 points given for gaming? I think thats a bit of an understatement....Id rather be able to play COD 4, then Have iCal. (Whoa a calendar! High tech sh*t there man!)

So you're trying to justify Mac's gaming deficeincy by saying games are a waste of time? Macs are more "productive" because you cant waste time? Thats riduculous.
