thinkprogress.org— Muslim Rep.-elect Keith Ellison, whose has been called un-American for wanting to swear in with a Koran, will be photographed with a holy book once owned by Thomas Jefferson.

Since members of Congress don't actually swear in on any holy book, the Bible, the Koran, or anything else, and since the official oath of office is wholly secular, there is no violation of the Separation Principle. The Koran, and the Bibles, are used in unofficial photo ops after the ceremony, designed to allow pandering politicians a chance to wow the rubes back home with their faux piety.
What I have said is what I believe. Name it whatever faith you like. Call me a traitor, call me a liar, call me a deciever, but this is what I believe, and I am a Muslim. So this is absolutely not taqiyya. I am trying to dispell myths placed by people who do not understand my religion and my beliefs, and you call me a liar. Where did you learn about Islam? From the loudest sources? Most of these sources are extremists, poor translations and people with vested interests in your rejection. It's the same with any other thing in the world - the people who speak out 99% of the time are the 1% who don't represent the true nature of the actual subject matter. Look for a republican views and you get Anne Coulter, LGF and Crooks and Liars. Look up Christianity and you get Extremists and Militant Aetheists. What's new? Do republicans think like Coulter? Do Christians think like those crazy clapping sermon leaders? Absolutely not. I've met Republicans and Christians who hate these people as much as I hate terrorists and terrorist sympathisers. If you look up information on Islam on the internet you'll find a source that tells you what you want to hear. But if you research and find out dilligently you'll find the true nature. I have tried to show you what I see, but you've rejected it as lies - so be it. Continue listening to the people who will tell you what you want to hear - they'll provide you with all the neat excuses, illogical extrapolations of and logical workarounds for what honest people say. They'll sensationalise and you'll be outraged - but be warned that that's not how the real world works at all. The sensationalists will tell you that people are stupid, illogical and crazy - this is a f**ked up world and you're the only person whose got it right - but the truth is that NO-ONE is stupid. You must assume that everyone is at least as complex as you are and thus, the truth is never simple enough to fit in to the neat little models that these people provide.
What are you talking about? The definition of Jihad came directly from an Islamic law book. With all the bombings of innocents worldwide committed by Muslims, it's gonna take more than your deception to fool the infidels much longer.

It wouldn't be taqiyya if you guys admitted it was taqiyya, huh? <a class="user" href="http://www.answering-islam.org/Authors/JR/Future/ch16_understanding_dishonesty.htm">http://www.answering-islam.org/Authors/JR/Future/ch16_understanding_dishonesty.htm</a><a class="user" href="http://www.jihadwatch.org/archives/004628.php">http://www.jihadwatch.org/archives/004628.php</a>“Taqiyya” is the religiously-sanctioned doctrine, with its origins in Shi’a Islam but now practiced by non-Shi’a as well, of deliberate dissimulation about religious matters that may be undertaken to protect Islam, and the Believers. A related term, of broader application, is “kitman,” which is defined as “mental reservation.” An example of “Taqiyya” would be the insistence of a Muslim apologist that “of course” there is freedom of conscience in Islam, and then quoting that Qur’anic verse -- “There shall be no compulsion in religion.” But the impression given will be false, for there has been no mention of the Muslim doctrine of abrogation, or naskh, whereby such an early verse as that about “no compulsion in religion” has been cancelled out by later, far more intolerant and malevolent verses.<a class="user" href="http://wolfgangbruno.blogspot.com/2005/03/stages-of-jihad.html">http://wolfgangbruno.blogspot.com/2005/03/stages-of-jihad.html</a>
