And in Christiaindom, it was an offence to counter God's Will (ever heard of Heresey?) Punishable by excommunication (banishment) if you were lucky (or rich), burning at the stake if you were not
My favorite quote from the article:"'I was hoping that he would get a harsher sentence because he presented to the world a bad image of Egypt. There are things that one should not talk about, like religion and politics. He should have got a 10-year sentence,' said lawyer Nizar Habib, who attended the trial as a member of the public."Waffles! Why be religious and have politics if you don't discuss it? It makes it rather... nonexistent.
this mentally retarded lawyer Nizar Habib is an islamist lawyer, and I think he is an MP. he is the gift of democracy to the people of Egypt. Now we have terrorists in the parliament. Mubarak gets insulted day and night in blogs and even sometimes in newspaper. Kareem got the maximum sentence for "contempt of religion" charge (3yrs) and the judge was not satistified with that, so he gave him 1 more year for "insulting the president". when you argue with hte islamists about freedom of expression, they will tell you that western society have harsher laws against Haulocost deniers!

I think that JAILING THOSE WITH OPINIONS tends to make a country look worse than one person complaining.

@Elranzer: I totally agree. However, I thought that Buddhism is not a religion, it's more a way of life.
