"The type of people that would have a fit over not getting a gift bag at the most prestigious acting awards show in America aren?t really actors anyway. They?re leeches and a disgrace to the movie industry. I love the idea of giving the $100,000 spent on a gift bag away to charities of the actor?s choice."A disgrace to the movie industry. As if they didn't do enough on their own.
I have always thought that it was a giant con by the artists on the tax paying public. They may claim not to have received the goody bag or gave it away. When you consider that the tax due on these bags is more than many peoples annual salary it is disgusting avarice by these "stars"If the IRS sent to jail some celebs for tax fraud then it would kill off these bags permanently, it could be a way to stop certain bad actors and actresses making films if they were inside. I think we would all like that.As to why the charitable donation has not taken off, probably because the companies that pay to have their product in the goody bag will not benefit from such an scheme so they will disappear and market it another way.
What about that independent film maker who has no money but got nominated for an award. This gift bag is everything to him and norton was too self righteous to see that. It may be nothing to those who are already rich but it is everything to budding stars. What is ridiculous is that a company cannot decide to give gifts away to people without the government coming in and stealing some.
f**k yes. Funny how all the self-proclaimed "humanitarians" in Hollywood have never spoken out against this issue before - yet they love to have their opinions heard every time there's a microphone nearby. Phonies. It burns my ass to know these things were all under-the-table too. Not only are they phonies, but they think they're better than you and me by not paying any taxes?! They can suck my fat one. (insert your god here) bless Ed Norton. I'm now an even bigger fan.

He's no fun. This is why Selma Hayek broke up with him. She loves gift bags.
