I don't think that Apple will release something like that until they are confident that they can still provide the great interface that Mac users are accustomed to. Personally, I don't want a small screen. When I design iPhone app UI, I want lots of space so I can have as many mockup designs as possible to compare. I can't do that on a netbook let alone have enough speed and processing power to run Photoshop. If you're someone who just wants to stay up on email, browse some websites and work with text documents knock yourself out. I'll stick with my MacBook Pro. It does everything.

Apple already has this product, its called an iPod Touch. Its better, cheaper and does more than any NetBook.

Apple won't cut anything because they will never make a $599 netbook. Just put OS X on a MSI Wind if you want.
