rogerebert.suntimes.com— According to Mr. Ebert, 'watching "Doom" is like visiting Vegas and never leaving your hotel room'. Hopefully he's wrong and IGN is right, but I have my doubts.

The thing is, there really could be a good video-game based movie. It just has to be done better, and actually adhere to the style of the film! I work at the visual effects company doing Silent Hill, and I'll tell ya this much: it looks f**king awesome. I just hope the story is translated faithfully in the screenplay.
Well, I'm watching it. Nothing else to watch, except Corpse Bride or Wallace and Grommit, but I'm not really into those kinds of movies.Unfortunately, Serenity no longer plays at my local theatre.Guess I'll have to get the DVD.
@Jasaco: Not Lebanon the country, but Lebanon, Kansas (that's what the "Kan." stands for.) It must be some sort of movie trivia or just Ebert being funny.Personally, I don't hate the Rock, but the fact that they tried to replace the legions of Hell with badly mutated super-humans from Mars really bothers me. I mean, what happened? Were they worried that demons lacked plausibility? Like in contrast to the garbage they then came up with? Please.
hahahahahahahaa."The original Martians were not merely humanoid, Dr. Grimm speculates, but super-human: They bio-engineered a 24th chromosome. We have 23. The extra chromosome made them super smart, super strong, super fast, and super quick to heal. But it turned some of them into monsters, which is presumably why the others built the portal to earth, where - what? They became us, but left the 24th chromosome behind? Is that the kind of Intelligent Design we want our kids studying?
It upsets me that they always pick games that are thin on story to begin with and then stick to the story as closely as possible. They should pick a game that has a great storyline/universe and explore a new story in that universe or a similar but not exactly the same story. And they should not make it inaccessible to people who haven't played, or played so long ago they can't remember (advent children).
When Ebert admitted he hadn't ever played Doom, his opinion ceased being valuable to me. This movie, like Serenity, is going to appeal more to fans. With that said, it is definitely hurt without the flame throwing demons and the pacing is too slow. The Doom FPS scene at the end faitfully recreates the game experience, but is that worth the price of admission?

Should have done Wolfenstein 3D instead... in 3-D. What do you think about such a project and if asked which actor do you think could play your role?John Romero - I have no reason to think anything other than YEAH! Of course, some hot stud actor should play me, right? No? :p
