Do they show Al Gore's house with the trees lit up in his yard? Yeah, someone did a drive by, Al wasn't so into Earth Day.

Just noting that most of the lights which were turned off are merely decorative and it would be OK to just leave them off all the time.

In Sydney the consumption dropped 8-10% during Earth hour. I saw one of the organisers interviewed, and actually his assessment wasn't too far removed from yours. He said that while the main benefit was that it sends your politicians a message and with enough public support it mandates policy actions that can make a difference.

I agree Earth Hour is an empty gesture. Most of these lights are termed "non essential," so why leave them on all the time?! One hour doesn't mean anything when you have s**t-tons of light on 364 and 7/8 nights per year. What a load of crap.As for the video, I have disagree. First, they don't seem to realize global warming will be the CAUSE of an ice age (pretty well-known, it was even in that dumb Jake Gyllenhaal movie). Second, the effects of global warming/the impending ice age will be seen over hundreds/thousands/millions of years. Anyone who says, "Oh it's so hot today, damn global warming," or "It's so cold today, global warming must be bulls**t" doesn't understand the concept of global warming whatsoever. (And our impact was probably well underway in the '70s.)
