I would really like to see some of the raw data for how they got 11 as the average age at one school. This means for everyone who was 21 their was some one who was 4. I know with a large sample my example is extreme but still for every 21 year old you need a lot of 11 year olds to balance this out.Also if 11 is actually an average then having sex at 11 is not delinquent as it is "acting within the normal social bounds set by your age group" still I have some doubts to the accuracy of the 11 year old age. Not that their aren't some 11 and twelve year old out their having sex (as disturbing as that is) but not in any number as to make that the average.
@oakes Why not? If humans weren't meant to have sex until they were [insert age you think is appropriate to begin having sex], they wouldn't reach sexual maturity until then. As long as they are having sex with similarly-aged partners, and have been taught about safe sex, I see no problem with it.
It is important to note that correlation does NOT imply causation!! There are many other factors at work in a correlation study and practically no controls. Therefore, any conclusions drawn from the data often spurious . Example: the number of storks is correlated with the number of human babies. What conclusion should I draw?? more storks= more babies. Neither, should any scientist or reader of this correlation study conclude that sex is the cause of this delinquency. The psychological factor is being ignored perhaps those who choose to have sex at an earlier age are more likely to be risk-takers. Thus later in life repeating this risk-taking behavior which leads to a tendency towards delinquency.
I think its down to person knowing what feels good to them, is it a shock that an 11 year old knows that masturbating feels good? Sex is just natural progression from that. Its not much of a reach to know that most ""Delinquent"" acts give adrenaline rushes which feel exciting to the person doing them. So i suppose its down to the persons self control more than anything. Stop blaming the parents because its not like they have a manual and if a whole schools average age of virginity loss was 11 then your saying that there wasn't any good parents in the whole school. My parents did all they could to inform me of what was right and wrong, they told me about the health warnings and everything else, they were fantastic and i had nothing to rebel against, but it feels good to have sex so it didn't matter what they told me, I was gonna have it. As for this translating to me been a delinquent, sure iv done some stuff i ain't proud of, but i think iv turned out ok. I would suggest that is more to do with own instincts than when i first had sex.
