"Why should someone with an iPod only be able to buy popular music online from Apple?"Listen buddy, only about 1% of songs on the ipods out there are actually bought from iTunes. The reason Apple has been successful is because they make it easy to rip CDs and upload "alternatively acquired" music. The whole idea that anyone buys an 80 gig iPod and then buys $20,000 worth of music from iTunes is just silly.

Everyone remember all the iPod should have WiFi and awesome it would be if it had it posts during the previous months of 6th Gen iPod rumors? See now how Wifi is a stupid idea no one cares about. You go Apple fanboys! Doing a good job.

Not even close to true. When the average (meaning non-geek) person thinks of an MP3 player, they think iPod. I'm not a huge Apple fan, but I have to admit that their marketing department has done a great job at making the iPod into something that's as much a status symbol as it is a functional piece of hardware in the minds of the public.

Talk about true dedication to your company's marketing campaign: shave your head, dress in black, and legally change your name from James to J (yeah, just J)???Biggest. Poseur. Ever.

As they say at Microsoft, "embrace and extend".

Well, all "shared" music gets wrapped in DRM. Guess the Zune doesn't really have anything spectacular that other players don't.
