If they want to get paid for their whole life, how about when they die all their work becomes public domain? Oh, no but that wouldn't let everyone else who leeched on the star to get paid throughout their whole life too.

Breaking the royality monopoly is actually quite a big deal. Hopefully it will make a huge impact on online services, since TONO etc. cant deny artist to sell their work through alternative channels. It really is just up to the artist now.
