powerpage.org — The latest Apple EFI update adds additional support for bootable DOS mode utilities! Some disk utilities which work on other BIOS based Intel PCs now work, A20 mode still not supported. Submitters note: memtest86 still does not work as well.

It is true that memtest86 doesn't work, however, memtest86 is not DOS-based (in the boot CD form, these is a DOS-compiled version which also is not compatible).Also, the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool (free download) does work with Intel-based Macs and runs almost identical tests as memtest86.
