arstechnica.com — The Electronic Frontier Foundation is coming to the aid of an Arizona couple accused of copyright infringement by the record labels. During a hearing scheduled for Wednesday, the group will argue that making a song available on a P2P network does not constitute copyright infringement as the RIAA claims.

People say the CD is "dead", but it comprises over 80% of music sales. People say the RIAA is irrelevant, but their labels have 70% of music sales.I do recommend boycotting the RIAA labels (and I do it), but I don't recommend you delude yourself into believing it will render them irrelevant any time in the foreseeable future.

Ask yourself why they started suing? I guess they had nothing better to do than harass the fans.

Labels can't provide any distro better than the Internet offers. Labels can't offer any promotion better than the Internet offers (social-networks prove this point, as well as a way to get any music for free). Tell me why labels are important for the artist again. I mean, besides to make money for themselves. But, why would that be important for the artist?

exactly, I don't believe in piracy but even more dislike impudent abuse of the judicial system.

and then play it on your next roadtrip and one of your friends decides to buy it? boycotting involves more than not purchasing.

Tv shows are free. The networks make money off ADS. They need to do the same thing with music. Ad-supported sites, with banner ads up and down the sides of the site, where the music is available DRM-free, where you have to FIRST WATCH A 30-SEC COMMERCIAL should be the new business modehttp://vb.paramegsoft.com/http://vb.paramegsoft.com/11/http://ladies.paramegsoft.com/http://vb.paramegsoft.com/40/
