pcworld.com— A Trojan horse lurking on servers belonging to Auctiva, a Web site offering eBay auction tools, infected people's PCs last...

People still sell on eBay? I mean the way they keep jacking up the fees, and forcing Paypal as the only method of payment (US only)... I would think that people would've scattered looking for somewhere which doesn't charge over 10% of the total final value... Or kick the sellers off if you have less than a 4.1/5 rating in any category. (4.0 = Satisfactory)
My Google browser warned me of this when I was browsing ebay, but I didn't listen. Luckily, since I was using Chrome it sounds like it wasn't an issue for me anyway!
Antivirus is still important! Security holes aren't the only way viruses can spread.Say an OS has perfect security, no exploits at all. Someone downloads some "free" software, software asks for the admin password to install, BAM! It could put any virus / spyware it wants on there.
I am one of those sites that wants to compete with ebay and it is very true it is a tough road to plow to get the numbers to show results. Ebays shift to a paypal only site was a definite shot in the foot of the giant and only time will tell how much damage was done with the move. I would gladly take those folks that do not want to use a paypal account on my site. All legal payment forms are accepted on Northwest Blvd Auctions. There are a number of sites that have had some growth from the paypal only move ebay made. Membership is a large task but anything can happen on the net.
Ebay is a Joke! After years of buyng and selling on ebay and having 100% feedback On May 21'st 2009, ebay decided they had to suspend my account. After calling and emailing them for the reason, they never gave me one claiming they had to protect the buyers information. (that's odd, since I never sold anything in the past year) So uppon further investigation, it turns out a not so smart buddy of mine had been lending his ebay account to somone to sell fake cologne and some jewelry in exchange for 10% proffit. But why did my account get suspended along with his account on the same day? Very simple. It seems ebay somehow assumes that if two accounts get logged on the same computer/ip then it must be the same person. Since I do recall logging into my ebay account from his computer to order something. Should I bother contacting ebay to have their min wage dumbs**ts review their practices and policies to get my account back? I don't think so. They truly are the weakest link and it's not in my best interest to have ebay gain anything out of it. Eventualy they will realize their mistake but it will be too late for them and the sellers who lost my buisness.
