Exactly - book smarts doesn't necessarily translate into real-world smarts. Also, being a genius at computer science does not automatically make you a genius at public relations, as Kevin hopefully has learned. Though, from what other people have been saying about their personal experiences with this guy, it doesn't sound like this snafu is going to make him any less outspoken or opinionated. Guess we'll just have to see the next time one of Apple's products is the "cause" of a network problem at Duke. Kevin: It's less satisfying than shooting your mouth off, but next time try admitting that you don't know WTF is going on and that you're still looking into it. If you had said: "At this juncture, I honestly don't think it's the Cisco equipment causing the outage, but I want to emphasize that we are still working to nail down the cause. We will release another statement when we know more." There, was that so hard? Live and learn, I guess...

I knew those innocent iPhones couldn't possibly be the culprit.

Don't read them.

Uh, is anyone NOT surprised that it was a Cisco issue? If you're the only campus with iPhone issues, it's a good bet the iPhone isn't causing it.
