While nobody will accuse me of being ultra patriotic (especially in these days of warped patriotism labels and "real American"), but don't forget motherf**kers....America stopped the nazi'sAmericans discovered/invented/mastered the following... (by no means an exhaustive list)flight, nuclear power, electricity, phones, internet, every major aspect of computing, space travel, the revolver, sextant (original gps), lasers, velcro, artificial hearts, the human genome, and the majority of modern medical advancements (though not an efficient way of ensuring the equitable distribution of said medical advancements...)WTF has Dubai done?
You're still missing the point. Dubai is all about perception. It is in the spotlight, it is what is garnering the most attention. Maybe you just resent the extravagance, and think that its what caused its downfall. Maybe, maybe not. But what you're saying is kind of like how people will bash a particular celebrity or show because its crap to them compared to another one that they consider to be much higher quality. This may be true, but if that particular one is the most popular, and garners the most attention the last thing you want is to close the curtain on it abruptly. For whatever reason, Dubai is that celebrity, and its why we're talking about it now. I see potential in it that not only can be squandered but irrevocably lost forever. Its a friggin hot spot man, that's the only point I'm trying to make here, and while you see it as not being a big deal due to your insider's perspective that's not the truth to many people in the west who are considering it for investment. Hell, I'm SUNY educated at a local University and where I live kicks the s**t out of so many other places for investment in the US but we never get any of it. Why? Perception, not the actualities of the place. If its a point of gathering then use it to its fullest. But don't rejoice in its downfall unless you really know what the actual consequences of it really are, and moreover, the perceived consequences. I simply think that they were on to something with what they were doing, something that could have grown into something really different and unique, and would have attracted more of it. You're letting your subjectivity undermine the possibilities. It's like Microsoft vs Apple man, you know one is actually better but the other is the one that has all the attention. If you can channel and harness that attention towards the future then you could eventually end up with something truly great.Or you can let it fall on its face and disappear into the dirt. At what price does pride come at? And don't forget that pride isn't power.
Nothing golden and fake about the United States. Our infrastructure is not built upon slave labor. The US is hardly "empty" on the inside. Dubai is a one trick pony as a playground for the rich. They only appear prosperous though ridiculously opulent construction projects. The US would rather flex it's financial muscle in many other areas, since the US country left the "my building-penis is bigger than your building-penis" decades ago.
I asked a friend of mine who is a chartered accountant this very question "Where did all the money go?" His answer, delivered in all seriousness was "It went to money heaven".
Lol at the Eurotrash making snide remarks about US debt, when every single major European country is in deeper debt than the US.http://www.cnbc.com/id/30308959?slide=1---Debt as % of GDP---United States: 94.3%Italy: 126.7%Spain: 171.7%Germany: 178.5%Portugal: 214.4%France: 236%Denmark: 298.3%Belgium: 320.2%Netherlands: 365%United Kingdom: 408.3% !!Switzerland: 422.7% !!!Ireland: 1267% !!!!Anti-Americanism, especially when it comes from the grotesquely hypocritical Eurotrash, constitutes just about the most severe political mental disorder imaginable.
