greenopolis.com — To no surprise Exxon Mobil has recorded profits this quarter... the highest profits for ANY U.S. COMPANY... EVER! Bush pushes for offshore drilling so Exxon can grab more land after his lame duck presidency is over, at the expense the ocean and the environment. We need to stop this now!

Foreign oil consumption is now 70% of the crude oil used in refiniries in this country -- they are apparently NOT buying it from themselves.

@blatantninjaAbsolutely. It's not really a conspiracy. Of course the government is giving some larger oil companies handouts and this is bad but offshore drilling is not pure graft; it's necessary to reduce reliance on foreign oil sources and bring down the cost of gas.

No, those countries care about their surroundings, America doesn't give a sh*t about anything, but money.

Shut the F__K UP Hippie! Would you rather we continue selling our soul to OPEC? You dumb bastard. I am all for an alternative fuel source but we need that oil now while we find better alternate sources for fuel, or would you rather paying 10 dollars a gallon to some Camel Jockey's

@ baconProvide [pruh-vahyd]: to make available; furnishYou can provide and still charge a fee. Don't doctors "provide" care for a fee? Don't grocery stores "provide" goods to their consumers?Your definition is inaccurate.

Everyone is hurting at the pumps because of the speculators. Oil is a publicly traded commodity, so the traders determine the price, and right now they are starting to make more sense, but the oil companies have to buy oil for $117 bucks a barrel. Right now, in Colorado, prices are around $3.69 a gallon. Thats about $1 buck per gallon over the crude price, which covers the shipping costs, the refining costs, and a little profit for both the supplier, and the gas station.

""I saw someone characterize our profits the otherday in terms of $1,400 in profit per second. Well, they also need to understand we paid $4,000 asecond in taxes, and we spent $15,000 a secondin cost...We spend $1 billion a day just runningour business. So this is a business where largenumbers are just characteristic of it.""
