Agreed, horrible drawing advice there. If you really want to learn without going to school, look at the sketchbooks and works of many other artists (not Liefeld though) and ask artists you know/meet. Observe life as much as you can and draw from real life over and over and over. Drawing's just like music or dancing or Guitar Hero. There's no trick, just practice.
