I would probably go around town here and set each homeless person up with a small apartment (@ ~$600/mo) and food delivery (@ ~$400/mo) for a year. That would be 1800 very happy people and a massive write-off on my taxes.

Take the damn money fool. With all that money you can take care of you family and fund more research. What is this guy thinking. I am not a person who cares so much about money but f**k that is a lot of cash. I just got married and I would love to bring just some of that home to my wife.
