xbox-scene.com — Some nice progress by several hackers: they found a way to downgrade a kernel even when the CPU eFuses were burned to prevent this. The bad news is that you'll need the CPU key (also 'hidden' in the eFuse data) to do so.

Why don't these people use their expertise and knowledge to better uses? Like a good job....

Not just the $99, but also, the XNA wouldn't allow us to have a version of XBMC. If anything, I think that's the one thing that most people want. Screw using Transcode360 to play DivX on my 360, I want it to be played right off the machine.

will the mod chip company who finds it allow it to be public? Thats the problem. I remember when orginal xbox, the orginal chip maker who cracked it didnt allow the code to be released, was only 2 years later publicly other companys found it

it's very limited right now though, and requires you to have a specific dashboard version in order to work. it'll happen sooner or later though ;)

I spent some time arguing with people over the efuse, protesting that the scene would find a way around it. This is vindication. So, as I've said before. These guys are brilliant. Now, it's just a matter for time.... the 360 homebrew scene is going to be great.

XBMC on the old Xbox is fine but it'll start choking when you try to run HD videos (except low bitrate divx ones).

well there is a new hack for the psp out now, and consoles will continually have new exploits due to bad coding from large corporate companies :p
