latimesblogs.latimes.com — The first up, WB's "Sherlock Holmes," stars Robert Downey Jr. as sleuth with Jude Law as sidekick John Watson. The second, Columbia's still untitled and in preproduction, will go for a comic tone, with "Borat" star Sacha Baron Cohen as detective and Will Ferrell as associate. Execs claim they're as different in tone as James Bond and Austin Powers.

Ali G to Borat to Sherlock Holmes. Is that versatility or what?

Is there really a difference between Ironman and Sherlock Holmes? Seriously, though, Robert Downey Jr has really come of age as an actor.

My vote is for Robert Downy Jr. I think Sacha Baron Cohen is wasting his talent on silliness. He's capable of so much more- his small role in Sweeny Todd, although not mind-blowing, proves that he's a decent actor.

Me too, love them both... can't see Will Ferrel playing Watson, but.. I'm sure I'll laugh.

I wish Downey would wear the deerstalker hat
