cosmiclog.msnbc.msn.com — Critics who say the world's largest atom-smasher could destroy the world have brought their claims to courtrooms in Europe and the United States - and although the claims are likely to get further consideration, neither court will hold up next week's official startup of the Large Hadron Collider.

Bleue, you've got me there. Believe it or not I don't consider myself an extremist or a right-winger. (See my profile.) I've been called a 'Liberal' more than once. However, my remarks were bitter and angry. So, I apologize for the rant. I respect that you stepped up and actually dialoged with me. But it's true; I'm just about done with Digg for several reasons: 1. The extreme Leftist ideology of almost all Diggers and the incessant put-downs of Republicans and Christians and being dim-witted, racists, and on and on and on...2. The fact that so many of the posts are made by so few individuals - it seems that Digg is almost entirely 'gamed' now. 3. And the bit that started my rant. My biggest problem with Digg -- so few Diggers care to leave meaningful comments. It's always nyuk, nyuk, nyuk. Hell I like humor too but consider that of the 200-something comments on this important issue about the Hadron Collider almost all are jokes, snarky comments, or uninformed and/or science-phobic. Where's the dialog?? What little there is, is lost in all the inane chatter.I came to Digg because I wanted intelligent discourse with folks of varying viewpoints. The U.S.A. is split about 50-50 Left and Right. Isn't Canada in much the same state regarding a few major issues? Digg could have been a forum for change, a place to exchange ideas and develop consensus. Instead it seems as though it's devolved into a gaggle of nit-wits.(Sigh.) Well, that turned into another rant. At least I didn't take it out on you this time. I'll tip a nice Moosehead Lager this evening in your honor.

What attracted me to Digg was that the subject matter was all-encompassing and so many sites now have 'Digg' buttons.Your "road rage" comment struck home, so I thought I should be an adult and apologize.Cheers!

"In the U.S. as well as the European lawsuit, the plaintiffs claim that those involved in the particle collider's operation have not adequately addressed the idea that the LHC could create globe-gobbling microscopic black holes or other catastrophes such as matter-wrecking strangelets or magnetic monopoles. They're calling for further safety reviews to be conducted."Not serious, right? Or they may be reading way too much science fiction? Or maybe they're just sick?
