as a non philadelphia fan, let me be the first to say you philadelphia fans are the scum of the earth. that's all. what are you going to do, throw batteries at Andy Reid until he trades McNabb?
empathize. shh... be quiet you grammar nazi or I'll start speaking in a philly language you will understand//starts opening as many packages of duracells I can get my hands on
Look, most people realize McNabb is a good QB. I, for one, am appreciative that we don't have a total loser under center like you see all around the league... Oakland and Cleveland come to mind.I blame Reid for not giving what Donovan needed all these years -- a run-first, playaction offense that keeps McNabb from dropping back 50 times a game and emphasizes his deep ball. He's made some unbelievable plays throughout his career, and he's made some pretty boneheaded and forgettable ones as well. He -- along with the D -- carried this team much throughout his early career, and 2004 simply felt like we were floating on air. Since 2005, however, he has never been the same and I think any objective fan can admit that.Sometimes it just gets to the point that you need to turn the page. McNabb has been in the league 11 years and still makes mistakes that he made as a rookie. He is never going to learn to hit the short-medium throws with touch and accuracy. He's never going to learn to get rid of the ball sooner or throw it away. He's never going to learn to run a 2-minute drill down the field and put the ball in the endzone. Short of an act of God, he's never going to lead a Brady-esque comeback with everything on the line and the ball in his hand. He has limitations that he can't seem to overcome. What people in other cities don't realize is that we see the SAME THING, year, after year, after year. Same idiotic playcalling and arrogant attitude from Reid; same boneheaded mistakes from McNabb. You never see improvement -- only sidestepping. They never seem to move forward, but only laterally in an attempt to stay competitive and keep the seats filled. The NFC was weak for so many years, and they failed to capitalize because Reid is stubborn and McNabb isn't exactly Captain Clutch. Eagles fans are the most loyal and passionate in the league, and it is not fair to the fans to keep doing the same things over and over and over again and expecting the results to be different -- that is the definition of insanity. And with Reid's signature still freshly inked on a 3 year extension, the only thing that can be changed now is the QB.Now we've got Reid lying through his teeth about McNabb. Both he and Kolb are entering the last year of their deal, and neither will be happy playing without an extension. You've still got Vick on the sidelines who will likely be traded for a pick, but I can't imagine a) Donovan playing as a lame duck with no contract extension, and b) Kolb accepting an extension just to waste away on the bench.I'm excited to see what Kolb can do. While he certainly doesn't have the arm strength or the mobility of a young McNabb, he sure looks like he makes quick reads and can get the ball out quickly which is what the WCO thrives on -- quick release, good timing, and hit the receiver in stride to maximize YAC. Look at the Favre/Rodgers situation... Rodgers looked like the real deal last night. Relax people... let go... wish McNabb well. I know I will.
McNabb deserves better than Philly. Just like last season when he was benched and "OHHHH, HE'S A BUM! GET HIM OUTTA HERE!" Then he takes them to the NFC Championship, but as soon as they lose "MCNABB AND REID NEED TO GO! PHILLY NEEDS A NEW COACH/QUARTERBACK!" Be careful what you wish for Philly. If McNabb left, you would go from at least relevant and somewhat of a threat, to obscurity very quickly. I don't care how many great receivers you have, they need a quarterback to get them the ball. How many great receivers do the Cardinals have? And how many good games has Matt Leinart had?
McNabb's 4th Qtr 2 minute drill in the Super Bowl with the Pats was one of the worst I'd ever seen in an important game. I was rooting for him but he deserved to lose that game because of it. He had the team to do it with but couldn't put it together. Unfortunately, that 2 minute drill is how I will remember Donovan McNabb.
Nice response, i think you really proved your point by dissecting my argument and then stating your position. Very good stuff, you should debate professionally!
