google will ban you for trying to cheat the system however. i know people with sites that have just disappeared off of google for months at a time. for example, if you hide text at the bottom of your site and just load it with keywords (that may not even apply to your site), google will punish you big time.

According to Google, you should no longer be penalized for duplicate content as of December of last year. In order to get your preferred URL to the content in question, it should be the only URL included in your sitemap.
