telegraph.co.uk — Dogs have become more intelligent, and even learnt a sense of right and wrong, through spending time with humans, a study shows. Although still controversial, recent research is beginning to support the view that an owner is perfectly correct when they pat their pet and coo "who's a clever boy then?"

Yeah, geez, if we had a dog for a president, this whole Iraq War business would've been over the second the American people gave him that scolding glance for tearing other nations up.

Azerael this is the type of science snobbery that people hate about science. Kinda like when a religion clams they are the reason people know right from wrong. In conclusion, STFU!!!!I've done these so called scientific experiments for ages w/ my dogs, I guess I just needed to publish my "finding" in some fancy journal to call it science!YOU PRETENTIOUS f**k!

Reading this article was an incredible waste of time. Dogs are dogs. Humans are humans. Birds are birds. And, as such all will act as what they are. Dogs have feelings, humans have feelings, birds have feelings, etc. However, when humans try to understand other creatures, or behaviors we humanize them, and attribute our own behavior onto them. That just is not the case. Dogs look guilty when they do things they know you will dissapprove of because they have been conditioned to expect a certain reaction by us. They know their will be consequences. Not because they think what they did was wrong. Dogs are incredibly intelligent creatures, and quite sensient, just not in the ways that we are. If you want to understand a dog, you need to think like a dog. Dogs don't hate, dogs don't judge, and dogs are not jealous - these are HUMAN emotions. Dogs try to please and to survive, that is their nature. They do things that we want them to do, not out of a sense of duty, or a moral compass, it is because they know these things will please you and therefore will further their comfort.

I believe it, my dogs are extremely smart. I'll come home from work and they'll both be acting weird with their tails between their legs instead of greeting me all happy. I'll find out after I walk through the house that someone chewed up a box of cereal that I left on the counter and they both felt guilty over it even hours later.

Why why why do people insist on assigning human attributes to dogs? The world would be full of better dog owners if only we accept the fact that they are DOGS. Dogs have no desire to be a human. Stop giving false hope to people who'd love to think otherwise.
