Plus, I may be wrong, but I've seen others go to the site, and I've seen it referred to as "The Facebook" before, even on the site. Though, like I said, I don't go there, I could be wrong.
No, no. It's the KGB I'm telling you. A deal was signed by "The Decider" and "Comrade Putin" to secretly use the vast array of Web 2.0 companies, (including Digg & Reddit) to gather more information about their citizens. Why do you think he is smiling? And just what exactly is he hiding behind his back?
I agree with people here that there's nothing new about the government continuously collecting all of our data, or even surreptitiously funding/overseeing projects that will facilitate that. I personally like this video because it never hurts to be reminded that if the government DID want to target you for some reason, they'd have access to ridiculous, seemingly harmless (at the time!) comments you've made on friend's profiles, etc. "Says here, Mr. Facebook-User, you once told Joey you could think of MANY people who deserved to be blown up..." Don't think you'll EVER be targeted by the government? Who knows when you'll follow a hottie to an anti-WTO rally, only to find yourself arrested and suspected of terrorism, even though you could care less about the issue? Or some guy you met at a party is caught with explosives in his basement, and your phone number is in his cell... and if you DO care about some issues? You have even more reason to stay informed. You'd be surprised how close we all come to being in the wrong place at the wrong time... and it can't hurt to be encouraged to keep that in mind when posting ANYTHING online. Personally, it's less about censoring myself while online, and more about being aware of who's listening.
I really don't care what they do with my data, they can have the links to my websites, they can have my email address (I never post my real phone number on any site in any case), so what is left to use, uh, maybe how many time a day I use the poke feature? Or maybe my favourite movie I watched 7 years ago, lol, if they really want that kind of data, they could've just asked me for it :P
This is an email that my friend received from Facebook. Basically, when you deactivate your account, Facebook keeps your information. But you *can* have it removed (according to them):Hi ****,You can deactivate your account by using the "Deactivate Account" link on the Account page. Deactivation will completely remove your profile and all associated content on your account from Facebook. In addition, users will not be able to search for you or view any of your information. If you reactivate your account, your profile will be restored in its entirety (friends, photos, interests, etc.).Reactivating the account simply requires that you log in with your email and password. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for contacting Facebook,KristjanCustomer Support RepresentativeFacebook
there are alot of stats thrown around, but even if a little is true, don't people know that what they put on those sites EVERYONE can see??? I put up as much as I want people to know about me, and that is IT. I'm just not that worried about this
It is scary, but we are 'dealing' with the internet and by putting/adding our details and personal information, we should be aware that these things happen....what I don't like is that you can't delete your account once you have one with Facebook. Try it . . .
people cant check your profile without being on your friends list.the content that is possibly sold secretly is your entire discography of information collected from your entire time using the websitedumb f**k
I have had the same 2 gmail accounts (business email and personal/friends email) for years now. I've never gotten spam on either of them until I used one to sign up on f**kbook. my business one still gets no spam, but the one I signed up with f**kbook on (even after deleting my account there) gets 200-500 a month. I am in full support of the abolishment, destruction, or murder of that site and it's crazy right wing, racist, spamming f**kwad owners.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_Awareness ...This is where all that information you post goes. It's sickening to see so many people who actually believe their government was created to wipe their ass. Of course your govt. monitors you, and of course they have technology that's better than yours to compile all that info, automatically and without thought. You fools who believe PEOPLE are on computers who are looking at your facebook, and you fools who believe this is a "conspiracy theory", YES it is a conspiracy, it is a true conspiracy. It is not a matter of who the new owners "used to work for"...of course they aren't going to let it look like THE CIA BOUGHT FACEBOOK. Because we'd be real mad.
I think the patriot act already makes it legal or at least introduces enough wiggling room for the intelligence authorities to request a copy of the entire FaceBook database. So the interesting connections discussed in this video are really just a side issue.I understand why everyone is defending FaceBook... it is fun to use and they would rather pretend that there is no one out there who might use their information in a nefarious way."The penalty good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men" Plato

Actually if you knew anything about your country and laws you would know that it is a federal law that the CIA cannot operate under any circumstances within the United States. But the world knows Americans are sheep and do not care about the country they and there children will live in
