joelevi.com — Universal Media Group's CEO says if you have an MP3 Player it's a repository for stolen music, and that's why he forced Microsoft to pay UMG a license fee for every Zune sold. The bigger question: are all UMG songs on your Zune (whether legally purchased or not) now legal and legitimate since you've already paid UMG for their content?

I normally don't like digging material such as this, but I felt it provided the tingle of stimulation in my head, which usually doesn't happen... or was i just having a minor stroke?

What percent of the license fee goes to the artists? After all, the entire anti-"piracy" campaign is for the artists, right?

The numbers that I've read indicate that $1.00US from each Zune goes to UMG, and 50% of that goes to the artists.
