blogs.zdnet.com — Finally the truth about the DRM in vista. It explain how vista DOESN't limit you from playing any of your ripped movies/music and clearly says the reasons why the DRM has been implemented. Please, make finally a good use of the Microsoft section and digg this to have the FUD about Vista stop.

Mythos isn't paid to read the articles. He's paid to do SPIN and damage control on the truth getting out.

I rtfa and this guy is full of s**t. Sure you can do a couple of things on Vista, that's about all he says. He does not address a set of concerns about DRM on Vista. His writing can be summed up as, "I can play media files on Vista. Linux sucks." I googled his name and it comes up with other bulls**t he stirs with other people. It's a real shame digg gave this guy attention.

@MythosBy way of example, and not as a limitation, you agree not to use the Services:9. with the intention of artificially inflating or altering the 'digg count', blog count, comments, or any other Digg service, including by way of creating separate user accounts for the purpose of artificially altering Digg's services; giving or receiving money or other remuneration in exchange for votes; *or participating in any other organized effort that in any way artificially alters the results of Digg's services.*

What a ridiculously thought out article. The author cites his time as a Vista user as proof enough about the lack of intrusion of the current DRM implementation in Vista, and bomblasts Peter Gutmann's DRM Cost Analysis. George Ou appears to have not read a single Vista specification (including the DRM one). Peter Gutmann -- however -- read the specifications, and thought, "No, thank you!"Which one's the sillier?

@mirzmaster: That's the kind of things i was talking about, but was modded down for raising. I didn't read the comments he made until you mentioned them, but I knew from just reading that article that the guy was a clueless windbag.

It amazes me that people still are harping on this DRM thing. Every device that is capable of playing the new HD disc formats supports the same DRM as Vista. That will include the Mac assuming they can/will be able to play them (not sure if they can or not right now).If Vista did not support the DRM, you would not be able to play the DRM content. At least you have the option to play the media at full res if you have the hardware that supports it. Seems to me that beats not being able to play it regardless of your hardware. That is the choice. If you want to attack Vista, you have to attack both HD movie format in general. They made the rules. MS is just following them in this case. If this DRM thing is really that big of a deal to you, don't buy HD-DVD or Bluray, and you will never have a problem.
