You already told us the conclusion of the article, why would we need to read it?

The iPod doesn't suck entirely. I like how Apple is innovative with the Click wheel, for example. I've tried other players out on the market, but the iPod does the best job of scrolling through music, IMO. The interface is very nice, it's very easy to use, give it to a child, he'll figure it out in seconds. But, then it starts to go downhill from there, you see, Apple's software iTunes is just bloatware, it does it's job, but takes up massive amounts of system memory, which isn't necessary for the tasks it does. It is very slow to browse through just my 8GB collection (I started to notice slow down at 4GB), and all with different computers too. It's pricey, but you are paying a premium for some features, but mostly the Apple name. If you get an iPod, you have the "cool" factor, but I've seen people with different MP3 players, and there's no shame in that. The battery life is pretty bad, it scratches up, just like any other mp3 player to be fair. So, it doesn't suck entirely, mainly my complaint is iTunes. I have hatred for programs that take up too much RAM. That's alright though, the iPod does a good job of providing music to my ears.

iTunes on Windows (a laptop), and I just got a macbook. I'll have to transfer my music collection onto there, since iTunes will probably work better on OS X. The windows laptop has Pentium M 750, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB HDD (5400 rpm). It's also happens on a fresh install of xp. I know there are alternates, such as Winamp, Sharepod, and *shrug* realplayer. I personally like sharepod, it does a great job of organizing music on my iPod while remaining simple.

when you send off your iPod to apple you get a replacement not the same one, that is why it's so "expensive"

"You already told us the conclusion of the article, why would we need to read it?"Conclusions are rarely what's most important, you should read the article for the reasoning behind the conclusion. You don't even know what he meant by "iPods are the Windows of Personal Music Players."Could be the ubiquitousness, like with Windows.Could be the abuse of a near-monopoly position (iTunes/iPod vendor lock-in), like with Windows.Could be that he's saying that while it's not perfect, it's decent enough that most people don't see any reason to switch, like with Windows.
