I didn't say it was completely without risk or a smart thing to do, I just said it didn't really take any balls to do it. When the bottom of the train is going to be a foot and a half way from you, your chances of injury are very slim.Train conductors are trained ( no pun intended ) to NOT perform an emergency stop in such a situation. When it takes 5 miles for a train to stop, slowing from 80 to 77 mph is of little consequence to whatever is going to get splattered.
