digg down

"Well it said 'do everything right from the command line!' I wonder if it'll start my car engine too."Sure it could! Write a driver that can program serial i/o to emit a particular frequency, Attach the output pins to a basic, properly tuned 555 based timer circuit which can output necessary voltage to a relay switch. Then mount a one-way, spring-retracted solenoid to the ignition pully and connect the positive lead from the car battery to the first switched pin of the aformentioned relay switch, Then connect the second switched pin of the relay to your solenoid and you're done! But of course you did not mean literally, You were just nitpicking, Just don't forget, Given the proper skills, one can do anything with commandline *Nix. Nice try though.

The problem with articles like this is that they are flamebait. The only reason i440 is getting dugg down is because everyone here likes to think of themselves of geeky know it alls (and we are god damnit!). Geeks like command lines becuase it proves how big of haxors they are to themselves because everyday people use GUIs. I honestly still don't know if I really buy into the whole console is faster. I do think some things are faster on a console but I think some things are meant for GUIs.20 years from now both will seem so common that I doubt there will be a battle still although I easily could be wrong. So for now I will continue to compile software and administer my system from the command line while downloading porn with my GUI.
