Hmm...ever wonder how PCLinuxOS took first place? Check their own forums:"But that's the thing, right? If that #1 spot, and all those hundreds of thousands of hits on DW, is nothing more than the fervent effort of a small number of heavily OCD folks running cron jobs, then it is all a cruel joke. OTOH, if those hits are real people, then something's scaring them off. I guess my core point is twofold: no matter what, there's definitely some sort of shadow-side to this "#1 spot" business. But that in no way should diminish the well-deserved pride-of-authorship of the PCLOS dev team. PCLOS is a fine package, and it doesn't need a hit counter to prove it. At the same time, the distro-bashing that permeates these forums ultimately tarnishes the devs' fine work."
Best wishes to the Distrowatch team! On a side note, PCLOS is a great distro with or without any script kiddies (not that I am putting stock in anybodies claim of such) pooling resources. I have tried 7 different distros and PCLOS just works better on all my machines.
it occurred to me that the continued expansion of Linux is a threat to the botnet herders. If everyone swapped to Linux, their botnets would be harder to acquire. At the very least they'd need to re-engineer their attacks. Regards,http://www.anarsist.org/
I have just checked this website and it seems there was an update today of the whois database. I see the expiration date of distrowatch.com is reading 03-jul-2013, not 2008. However, I also see that this whois record was last updated on the 5th May 2008.
