appleinsider.com— Walt Disney Co. said Thursday it has sold nearly a half million films through Apple Computer's iTunes store since announcing the distribution deal a little less than two months ago.

Bad. These things can only be played on an iPod or a computer with iTunes. Who would pay money for something so crippled? You can't even burn a copy to DVD-R to play in a standard DVD player... worthless![insert obligatory welcoming statement for our DRM overlords]
@inkhead:You put it very nicely, and I agree that the iTV will be MUCH better than Microsoft's XBox 360. Apple would be stupid not to offer HD downloads, not only because Microsoft's doing it soon, but it's the Apple way. The iTV has HDMI too... why else would they put that in, you don't need it for standard definition broadcasts.
Movies on Xbox Live:1) Yes, you need a hard drive, as does most of the video content that's on Live.2) Gold (paid) or Silver (free) memberships can download movies.3) Movies are not for purchase, they are priced for rental in SD or HD. You have 14 days to watch your download. Once you start watching it, you can watch it as many times as you like in 24 hours. 4) TV Shows are for purchase and are tied to your account, so if you delete the show you can download it again for free, as most people will need to do since the hard drive is tiny for HD media.
@inkheaddude, your so full of crap. I have an apple cinema display (far sharper than any 1080p display out there) and tried a movie test.... not only did it consume quite a bit of my 2.0ghz Core Duo processor to play the bloody movie, but the DVD version did in fact look better.besides, apple is NOT going to come out with HD movies, that just doesn't make any economical sense at ALL. If hi-def were an option they would have come out with much better sounding music. Point being, these movies are to sell ipods and itvs, and to work between the devices, NOT to become an IPTV provider. Leave the hidef movies to Verizon FiOS and Comcast on Demand.
To me it *was* worth 88 cents. I bought "Cars" on-line in the morning, selected in-store pickup, and picked it up on the way home. So I watched "Cars" the same day it came out with just slightly more effort than purchasing it from iTunes, with the added bonus of having the physical media.

Almost 47,000 downloads a week vs 0 for the other studios seems like a win for Disney
